DOT to fine Canadian Pacific for delayed derailment notification

ALBANY -- Four train cars carrying crude oil slipped off the tracks early Monday morning at Canadian Pacific’s Kenwood Rail Yard at the Port of Albany. The New York Department of Transportation said it will fine the railroad $5,000 for not promptly notifying the agency of the incident.

Oklahoma derailment and explosion (August 2008)

LUTHER, Okla. - A train carrying crude oil derailed around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2008 in rural northeastern Oklahoma County. Approximately 8 cars of the 110-car train had crude oil and ethanol.  Firefighters let the blaze burn itself out, but the fire didn't die out until shortly after sunrise Saturday morning.
