Railroads ordered to inform responders about flammable oil

WNYT | May 8, 2014 | Staff Report

Railroads have now been ordered to inform emergency responders when they're carrying flammable crude oil through their town.

The orders come from the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Anthony Foxx.

US Senator Charles Schumer is praising the decision.

He'd asked for that kind of response from the White House.

Albany has increasingly expressed concerns about rail tankers carrying crude oil rumbling through the Capital Region and then parking at the Port of Albany.
